The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is Barbados’ main public hospital and the largest healthcare facility on the island. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, QEH provides emergency care, acute inpatient treatment, specialised services, diagnostic imaging, and surgical procedures to citizens and residents.

Emergency Services: The 24-hour Accident and Emergency department accepts all walk-in patients with urgent or life-threatening conditions. For emergencies, proceed directly to A&E — do not call ahead. Ambulance services coordinate with the hospital for severe emergencies.

Specialist Services: QEH operates wards for general medicine and surgery, intensive care, obstetrics, paediatrics, cardiology, oncology, and other specialties. Outpatient specialty clinics require a referral from a primary care physician.

Visiting Hours: Generally 2:00 PM–8:00 PM daily. Patients may be accompanied by one designated support person.
