Barbados Fire Service
The Barbados Fire Service is the primary emergency response agency for fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, and public fire safety. Operating from fire stations across the island, the service responds 24/7 to emergencies and works proactively to prevent fires through education and code enforcement.
Emergency Response: In case of fire or rescue emergency, call 311 immediately. Provide your location, the type of emergency, and whether anyone is trapped. Evacuate buildings immediately and assemble at a safe distance. Do not re-enter a burning building.
Fire Safety Inspections: Business owners and property managers can request fire safety inspections to ensure compliance with building codes. The service identifies hazards and recommends corrective action. Inspections are mandatory for many commercial premises before opening.
Community Education: The Fire Service provides school presentations on fire prevention, conducts fire drills for organisations, offers CPR and first aid training, and distributes fire safety literature. Free smoke detector installation assistance is available.
