World’s Best Rum is BAJAN!

Barbados has emerged as the top producer of rum at this year’s International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC), with more than half of the top 20 rated rums hailing from the island.

R.L. Seale’s Foursquare distillery in Barbados produced eight highly-rated rums. The No. 1 rum, R.L. Seale’s Foursquare 14-Year-Old Equipoise Rum, scored 99 points and features a 61 percent ABV.

This rum is noted for its complex flavor profile, including aromas of leather and olive oil, and flavors of citrus peel, cinnamon, oak, dark chocolate, and nutmeg, followed by a finish with hints of caramel, banana bread, and tobacco.

Barbados, with its historic ties to rum production, shares the spotlight with other top rum-producing regions, including Martinique, Thailand, and Cambodia.
