Indiscriminate Parking Causes Issues for Fire Tenders

By on June 13, 2024 0 124 Views

Minister of Home Affairs and Information, Wilfred Abrahams, and Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard have urged the public to avoid indiscriminate parking, especially in The City, as it hinders the Barbados Fire Service’s (BFS) ability to respond to emergencies.

This appeal was made during the inspection of three new Scania Angloco fire tenders at the Port of Bridgetown. They emphasized that irresponsible parking, rather than road size, often obstructs fire engines, potentially endangering lives and property.

Additionally, Mr. Maynard mentioned that the BFS has ordered smaller fire tenders to navigate tight, densely populated areas more effectively. These vehicles are expected to arrive early next year.
